Are you frustrated? Tired of doing the same thing over and over? Or may be you are faced with an unplanned change; a lay-off, restructuring or even the end of a relationship.
It’s understandable to panic, go into a shell, or wallow in unhappiness, but the truth is, there is also an opportunity here. An opportunity for new beginnings.
If you’re unhappy with an aspect of your life, or even if you just feel a slight stirring to do something different, take a step back. Do some dreaming. Ask yourself “What if I stopped doing xyz?” “What if I took the time to do …?” “What if I actually pursued that dream?” “What if I made that big change?”
A client of mine, after getting laid off, took the opportunity to get her health on track. Over 6 months, she not only lost a bunch of weight, she developed a love for exercise and a healthy relationship to food! Now when she goes back to work, she’s less likely to fall into old patterns and more likely to stay healthy.
Paying attention to the dissatisfaction you feel doing the same things everyday can lead to growth and inspiration. Use these unsettling feelings to figure out how you can take advantage of an opportunity (in my client’s case…time and energy) or figure out what’s really wrong….and then course-correct.
Remember, unhappiness can lead to new beginnings.
